Funeral services for Robert Karstedt, 70, of Truman, Minnesota will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 17, 2004, at the Olson-Zaharia Funeral Home in Truman with the Rev. Nancy Linn of Trinity Lutheran Church, Truman officiating. Military honors will be conducted by Lee C. Prentice American Legion Post 36 and Martin County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1222. Mr. Karstedt died Wednesday, February 11, 2004, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, February 16, 2004 at the Olson-Zaharia Funeral Home in Truman and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the funeral home.
Robert Karstedt was born June 12, 1933 on a farm near Mapleton, Minnesota to George and Viola (Possin) Karstedt. He attended school in Mapleton and graduated from Mapleton High School. He enlisted in the United States Air Force working as an aircraft mechanic. He served tours of duty in Texas, where he met and married his wife, Janelle. They served in Hawaii and South Carolina. Bob retrained to refrigeration repair and served at Chandler, Minn, Cahm Ran Bay, Vietnam and McChord Air Force Base, near Tacoma, Washington. He retired from the Air Force and he and his wife divorced. Bob later married Peggy Senn and they lived in Phoenix, Arizona until her death in 1997. Bob then moved to Truman, Minnesota and lived with is daughter and grandsons.
Mr. Karstedt is survived by three daughters, Kathryn Karstedt of Truman, Minnesota, Connie Karstedt and Linda Green, both of Seattle, Washington; three grandsons, Keith, Dustin and Aaron; a sister, Shirley Massop and her husband Joe of Mapleton, Minnesota; a brother, David Karstedt and his wife, Pam of Spokane,Washington . He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Peggy; and a brother, Elliot.
