Funeral services for Olivia E. Zinke, 83, of Truman, Minnesota will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 20, 2004, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Antrim, rural Truman, Minnesota. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Zinke died Monday, February 16, 2004, at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Truman. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 19, 2004, at the Olson-Zaharia Funeral Home in Truman and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Olivia Emma Altenburg was born March 25, 1920 in Blue Earth County, Minnesota to Michael and Hedwig(Wiederhoeft) Altenburg. She was baptized April 18, 1920 by Rev. F. Koenig and confirmed March 25, 1934 by Rev. Brauer at St. John's Lutheran Church of Antrim where she also attended parochial school. Olivia was united in marriage to Siebert Zinke in June of 1936 at St. John's Lutheran Church of Antrim by Rev. Brauer. She helped take care of her nephews after their mother died. She was a homemaker and later worked in the activities department at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Truman. Her husband died in 1975. Olivia was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Antrim, where she taught Sunday School for 25 years and was a member of the Ladies Aid since 1949. She was a member of the Lutheran Retirement Home Auxiliary in Truman since 1975, belonged to card club and went on traveling tours.
Mrs. Zinke is survived by a daughter, Elaine Brummond and her husband, Larry of Truman, Minnesota; two sons, Gilbert Zinke and his wife, Edith of Lewisville, Minnesota and Siebert Zinke, Jr. and his wife, Bonnie of Kensington, Minnesota; 17 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; son-in-law, John Kassube of Lewisville, Minnesota; and one sister-in-law, Valeen Altenburg of Lewisville, Minnesota; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Elfrieda Kassube; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother and two sisters.
