Funeral services for Leroy M. Salstrom, 82, Truman, MN, will be held on Wednesday, February 25th, 2004 at 10:30 am at Bethel Evangelical Free Church, Fairmont, with Rev.'s Richard Reynertson and Steve Witmer officiating. Interment will be at Fairview Memorial Park, Fairmont. Mr. Salstrom died Friday, February 20th, 2004 at the Lutheran Retirement Home, Truman. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 24th, 2004 from 5-7:00 pm at Olson-Zaharia Funeral Home, Truman, and one hour before the services at the church.
Leroy Martin Salstrom was born on May 11th, 1921 in Minatare, Nebraska to Albert and Agnes Wallender Salstrom. He attended school at Lake Minatare, NE and met his future wife, Molly Kihlthau on his last day of school at a picnic. They where married November 15th, 1940 in Scottsbluff, NE. Leroy farmed in western Nebraska. Molly and Leroy became parents of four children, Robert, Larry, Sandra and Kathy. In 1955 the family moved to Minnesota. Leroy was in the oil business for many years until he retired at the age of 75. He has lived at the Lutheran Retirement Home since September of 2002. Leroy was a member of Bethel Evangelical Free Church, Fairmont, MN.
Leroy is survived by his wife, Molly, Truman; two sons, Robert and his wife Sharin of Omaha, NE and Larry and his wife Vivian of Truman; two daughters, Sandra McCauley and her husband Gary of Germany and Kathy Krumwiede and her husband Jeffery of Fairmont; six granddaughters; nine great grandchildren; one brother, Bryan Salstrom, Denver, CO; seven sisters, Ruth Henderson and her husband John, Scottsbluff, NE, Betty Carlson and her husband Kenneth, Ft. Collins, CO, Helen Stertz and her husband Richard, New Port, OR, Ruby Schumaker and her husband Don, Estes Park, CO, Marilyn Spence and her husband Robert, New Port, OR, Doris Gregg, North Platte, NE, and Shirley Carter and her husband Richard, Omaha, NE; one sister-in-law, Clarice Salstrom, Cambridge, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews. Leroy was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert.
