A celebration of life for Nelda Fink, 86, of Fairmont, Minnesota will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 11, 2004 at St. John's United Church of Christ with Pastor Richard Abel officiating. Burial will follow the service at Fairview Memorial Park in Fairmont.
Mrs. Fink died Friday morning, May 7, 2004 at her home in Fairmont. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, May 10, 2004 at Olson-Zaharia Funeral Home in Fairmont and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Nelda Anna-Marie Lehmann was born June 2, 1917 to William and Florence (Hoffmeyer) Lehmann in Lake Belt Township, Ceylon, Minnesota. She attended school at District #45 in Ceylon. Nelda was confirmed on April 19, 1933 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Lake Belt Township. On August 29, 1940 she was united in marriage to Clarence Fink of Truman, Minnesota at St. Peter Lutheran Church. In 1941, she joined St. John's United Church of Christ in Fairmont, Minnesota. Following their marriage the couple farmed by Truman until moving to Fairmont in September of 1999. Nelda took great pride in always having a large garden, beautiful flowers, especially roses and working on the farm. She enjoyed baking and making buns for all special occasions. She raised a lot of poultry which were dressed for others. Nelda enjoyed doing crafts and sewing quilts for crafts and for family and always had to give a helping hand where needed. After moving to Fairmont she joined the quilting group at St. John's United Church of Christ until ill health made her quit. Nelda's memories will always be cherished by all who knew her especially her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Nelda is survived by her husband, Clarence Fink of Fairmont, Minnesota; daughter, Karon Johnson and husband, Dennis of Fairmont, Minnesota; son, Darvin Fink of Houston, Texas; seven grandchildren, Scott Pryd of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Dean Fink of Houston, Texas, Lisa (Fink) Balsingin and husband, Aaron of Houston, Texas, Teresea (Johnson) Vachuska and husband, Paul of Jackson, Minnesota, Tamara (Johnson) Halverson and husband, Larry of Fairmont, Minnesota, Trent Johnson and wife, Brenda of Trimont, Minnesota and Tracey (Johnson) LaBarge and husband, Rickey of Virginia, Minnesota; sixteen great-grandchildren, Kalia, Cody, and Blake Balsingin of Houston, Texas, Nathan Johnson of Winona, Minnesota Anthony, Matthew, Jeremy and Justin Johnson of Trimont, Minnesota, Jenna Vachuska of Jackson, Minnesota, Denise and Carolyn Halverson of Fairmont, Minnesota; Kevin, Naomi, Kelly Moritz, Patrick and Patrice O'Connell of Virginia, Minnesota; a sister, Nadine Palmer of Ceylon, Minnesota and many other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Nelda was preceded in death by three brothers, Walter, Robert and Willard; sisters-in-law, Bertha and Helen Lehmann and Alice Mason; brothers-in-law, Frank Palmer and John Mason.
