Funeral services for Laura L. Frese, 88, Madelia, MN, formerly of the Truman-Lewisville area will be held on Tuesday, May 18th, 2004 at 1:00 pm at St. John's Lutheran Church-Antrim, rural Truman, with Rev. Matthew Rusert officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Frese died Friday evening, May 14th, 2004 at the Madelia Community Hospital, Madelia, MN. Visitation will be at Olson-Zaharia Funeral Home, Monday, May 17th, from 4-7 pm and one hour before the services in the church.
Laura Lena Leimer was born May 9th, 1916 in Bancroft, Neb., to John and Minnie Dietrich Leimer. She attended parochial school in Bancroft, Neb. Laura married Emil Frese on May 9th, 1935 at Zion Lutheran Church in Bancroft, Neb. They lived in West Point, Neb. until November of 1939 when they moved to the Truman and Lewisville area. Laura began working for the USDA as a meat and poultry inspector in 1963. She retired in 1975 due to a disability. Emil died December 8th, 1985. In 2000 she moved into an apartment in Madelia and entered the Lutheran Retirement Home in March of 2004.
Laura was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church-Antrim, rural Truman. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidering, reading, fishing and spending time with her family.
Laura is survived by six daughters, Dorothea Orvis and husband Harold, Mountain Lake, MN, Janice Baessler and husband William, Ocoee, FL, Donna James and husband Frank, Brighton, CO, Beverly Mattingley and husband Keith, Littleton, CO, Barbara Karau and husband Jerry of Truman, Patricia Bay and husband Ron, Truman; one son, Walter Frese and wife Becky, Grey Cliff, MT; fifteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; two sisters-in-law, Millie Frese, Truman and Hermina Leimer, Lewisville; one brother-in-law, Reinhard Frese, Oklahoma City, OK; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one infant daughter; five brothers; and one half-sister.
