Funeral services for Lucille E. Johnson, 85, of Truman, Minnesota will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 10, 2004 at Community Baptist Church in Truman with the Rev. Penny Ritter officiating. Burial will be at Ridgelawn Memorial Park in Truman. Mrs. Johnson died Thursday, July 08, 2004 at her home in Truman. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Olson-Zaharia Funeral Home in Truman arranged services for the family.
Lucille Evelyn Dorothy, daughter of Frank and Josephine (Shaw) Dorothy, was born March 29, 1919 on the family farm in Nashville Township, Martin County, Minnesota where she attended country school. Following her education she was united in marriage to Waldo Bertram Johnson on June 19, 1936. She was a homemaker and cared for other family's children, as well as her own. Lucille's husband died in 1995. She greatly enjoyed watching the birds and butterflies and horticulture. Her other hobbies included playing organ, writing to pen pals and spending time with family. Lucille was a member of Community Baptist Church in Truman and also performed custodian duties.
Lucille is survived by two sons, Larry Johnson of Truman, Minnesota and Jack Johnson and his wife, Henrietta of Fairmont, Minnesota; two daughters, Jolene Freeman and her fiancée, Don Maday of Fairmont, Cindy Grefe and her husband, Jack of Arcadia Wisconsin; one daughter-in-law, Rita Johnson of Mapleton, Oregon; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; one sister, Alyce Schultz and her husband, Henry of Welcome, Minnesota; two brothers, Bernard Dorothy and his wife, Joyce of Portland Oregon and Gordon Dorothy of St. James, Minnesota; two sisters-in-law, Sylverne Burtness of Northwood, Iowa and Joye Hensley of Stewartville, Minnesota; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Waldo; one son, Steven; one grandson, Nick Johnson; one son-in-law, William Freeman; two sisters, Hayzel Williams and Sylvia Poulson; three brothers, Claude, Harry and Wayne; three sisters-in-law and four brothers-in-law.
