Esther Malinda Emma Kanning

Funeral services for Esther M. Kanning, 98, of Tacoma, Washington, formerly of Truman and Fairmont, Minnesota, will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 7, 2005, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fairmont. Mrs. Kanning died Monday, October 3, 2005, in Tacoma, Washington. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Zaharia Family Funeral and Cremation Service is in charge of arrangements. Esther M. Kiester, was born March 7, 1907, in Martin County, Minnesota to Edward and Mary (Kastning) Kiester. She was a life-long resident of Martin County, except for the last 16 months when she moved to Tacoma to be closer to her daughters. She is survived by four daughters: Helen (Les) Gatchel of Bella Vista, AR; Doris (Fred) Junker of Belfair, WA; Julia (Jerome) Westby of Olympia, WA; and Diane (Tom) Lenzi of Chandler, AZ; and her daughter-in-law, Diane Kanning of Gulf Breeze, FL; 11 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 4 step-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceding her in death were her husband, Arnold in 1975, and her son, David in 1980. Memorials may be given to the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod Church Extension Fund.
