Evelyn C. Sharkey

Evelyn C. Darmer, the daughter of William and Emelia (Behrens) Darmer, was born January 31, 1925 at Osakis, MN. She moved with her family to Fraser Township, near Fairmont, MN where she attended school. On October 25, 1942, Evelyn was united in marriage to Leonard Manteufel at Zion Lutheran Church, Fraser. They farmed in the Truman area for many years, spending their winters in Arizona. Leonard died in July of 1986. She married Howard Sharkey in 1989 and made their home in Rapid City, SD. Howard died in 1995. Evelyn is survived by a stepson, John Sharkey and his wife, Ilene of Rapid City, SD; two sisters-in-law, Helen Darmer and Viola Darmer, both of Minneapolis, MN; nieces, nephews; five step grandchildren; six step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Leonard Manteufel and Howard Sharkey; sister, Verna Cobert and two brothers, Raymond "Smokey? Darmer and Randy Darmer.
