Beatrice Evelyn Nagel was born on November 5, 1907 near Springfield in Brookfield Township, Brown County, MN to Peter and Bertha (Gulke) Nagel. She attended country school near Springfield and Sleepy Eye, MN. On April 21, 1929 Beatrice was united in marriage to Manford Trees in Nicollet, MN. They lived in northern Iowa and southern MN. In 1955 they moved to New Ulm and moved back to Fairmont in 1964. Beatrice and Manford started Trees Trailer Court and the Dairy Freeze, both in Fairmont. Manford died in 1977 and she later moved to Friendship Village, where she helped serve meals for many years. In 2007 Beatrice moved in to the Lutz Wing. She loved to crochet. Beatrice volunteered at the Salvation Army and at the coffee shop at the Fairmont Hospital. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Fairmont. Mrs. Trees died on Friday, May 30, 2008 at the Fairmont Medical Center.
Beatrice is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim Trees and his wife Audrey of San Carlos, CA, Kenneth Trees and his wife Mary of Belcamp, MD; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers and one sister.
