Lydia Wilhelmina Breitbarth was born on February 24, 1915 in Pleasant Mound Township, Blue Earth County, MN to Henry and Augusta (Koehler) Breitbarth. She attended country school at Dist. 100 and at St. Paul's Lutheran School in Truman. On December 19, 1934 Lydia was united in marriage to Gerhardt Brummond. They lived and farmed for two years in Blue Earth County and then moved to Antrim Township, Watonwan County. They farmed there until retirement in 1977. Gerhardt died in 1978. In 1986, Lydia moved into the Booze Apartments in Truman and into the Lutheran Manor in 2001. Lydia was a longtime member of St. John's Lutheran Church-Antrim until moving into Truman and joining St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She was involved with the ladies aid group in both churches. Lydia enjoyed quilting, playing cards, fishing and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Lydia died on Friday, March 6, 2009 at the Fairmont Medical Center.
Lydia is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Elaine Brummond, Truman; four grandchildren, Laris Brummond, Truman, Gerald Brummond, Northrop, Yolonda (Troy) Geistfeld, Truman, Tony (Gini) Brummond, Truman; six great grandchildren, Haley, Sam, Hanna and Harley Geistfeld and Zachary and Alexis Brummond; One sister, Lillie Eichoff, St. James, MN and one sister-in-law, Mary Breitbarth, Truman and numerous nieces and nephews. Lydia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gerhardt; two daughters in infancy, Jenny Odell Brummond and Audrey Glee Brummond; three sisters, Alma, Delia and Selma; five brothers, Harry, Harold, Arthur, Wilbert and Willard.
