Laurence Henry Fowler was born on November 7, 1919 in Westford Township, rural Truman to George and Emma (Schoeppach) Fowler. He attended country school on his father's farm. Laurence farmed on the family farm. On June 22, 1941, Laurence was united in marriage to Eileen Sperry in her parent's home in Nashville Township, Martin County, MN. They continued farming the family farm and in 1948 they moved to Nashville Township and farmed Eileen's parent's farm. Laurence continued farming until his death, helping to put in the wheat crop this spring. He and Eileen entered Truman Senior Living on October 31, 2008. Laurence was a member of Horicon Church of Christ where he served as Deacon and Trustee. He was an avid reader and enjoyed horses and cows but his true love was farming. He believed in taking care of the land so the land would take care of him. He was a much loved dad, grandpa, family member and friend. He will be greatly missed. Laurence died on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN.
Laurence is survived by his wife of 68 years, Eileen, Truman, MN; one daughter, Patricia Ritter and her husband Lynn of Zumbrota, MN; three sons, Larry Fowler and his wife Bonnie of Dundas, MN, Darryl Fowler of Granada, MN, Duane Fowler and his wife, Amy of Hastings, MN; ten grandchildren, Jeff Ritter, Michael Ritter, Jennifer Steffes, Stacy DeWar, James Fowler, John Fowler, Carrie Kluver, Brenda Schomberg, David Fowler, Megan Zachman; fourteen great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Esther, Clarice, Mildred and Mary; four brothers, Charles, Osmer, Richard and Arthur.
