Wanda LaVae Wilke

Wanda LaVae Valentine was born on October 10, 1930 in Waverly Township, Martin County, MN. She was the fourth child of Herbert and Trella (Dexter) Valentine. Wanda was baptized at the Truman Church of Christ and confirmed in the faith at Antrim Lutheran Church on May 28, 1948. She received her education at the local rural school and Truman High School. She was united in marriage to Delfin Wilke in 1947 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in St. Paul, MN. They farmed in the Lewisville area for 42 years until Delfin's death in 1989. They raised five children together and enjoyed travelling. Wanda was active in the 4-H Club, helping many young girls with their sewing projects. She enjoyed being a member of Zion Ladies Aid and the Lewisville Legion Auxiliary. For many years she was active in the Extension Club of Watonwan County and the Lewisville Wednesday Study Club. Wanda was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Lewisville. Wanda died on Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at her son's home in Streetman, TX. Wanda is survived by three daughters and two sons, Lynette Jones (Tom), Lake Crystal, MN, Steve Wilke (Connie, fiancé), Lewisville, MN, Greg Wilke (Nancy), Streetman, TX, Pam Haycraft, Florence, AZ, Cynthia Vlasich, Avon, IN; grandchildren, Kent Jones (Erica), Thomas Jones (Gail), Scott Jones (Kayla), Alisha Wachholz (Jason), Ashley Bjorklund (James), Amber Hairston (Keith), Stacy Williamson (Patrick), Megan Moore (David), Tim Haycraft (Elizabeth), Tom Haycraft, Amy Haycraft, Matt Vlasich; nine great grandchildren; one sister, Gloria Schwake, Truman; one brother, Dewey Valentine, Fairmont and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister and one grandson.
