Elmer Christ Graplar was born on December 18, 1913 in Rutland Township, Martin County, MN to Lorance and Anna Graplar. Elmer served in the US Army as a heavy machine gunner in WWII until 1945. He was a lifelong member of St. James Lutheran Church in Northrop. He held different positions in the Church Council and was a member of the Men's Club. Elmer also bowled on league for many years. Elmer actively farmed with his father and brother. He entered the Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center from March 9, 1998 until his death. Elmer died on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at the Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont.
Elmer is survived by one nephew, Larry (Bev) Graplar of Granada; one niece, Lori (Jay) Juhl of Centential, CO; great nephews, Dereck (Kelly) Graplar, Ryan (Jodi) Graplar, Dristen Juhl; great nieces, Katelyn Juhl, Kellsie Juhl; great, great nephews and nieces, Shawn Graplar, Aaron Graplar and Kayla Graplar. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Robert; one nephew, Lynn Graplar; and one sister-in-law, Mabel (Graplar) Sagissor.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. James Lutheran Church or to Martin Luther High School.
