Richard Clarence Fischer was born on October 27, 1950 in St. James, MN to Clarence and Dorothy (Frentz) Fischer. Richard was baptized on his birthday, October 27, 1950 and confirmed on May 2, 1965. He attended school at St. John's Lutheran School, South Branch and St. James High School. Richard farmed with his father on the family farm and later took over the farm. He entered the US Army National Guard in 1970 and served until November of 1979. On November 17, 1979 Richard was united in marriage to Becky Cyphers. They later divorced. On June 17, 1989 Richard was united in marriage to Valerie Hilpipre. Richard farmed his entire life and remained on the family farm until his death. He worked for Advanced Fiber Products for 2 ½ years and then worked at Westin Automotive where he was the 3rd shift supervisor for many years until he became ill. Richard was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church-South Branch. Richard enjoyed going up north fishing on Morrison Lake, near Outing, MN. He loved spending time on his farm and especially with his family. Richard died on Thursday, April 21, 2011, right before sunrise at his home near South Branch.
Richard is survived by his wife, Valerie Fischer, South Branch, MN; children, Rhonda Fischer and her fiancé, Luke Krueger, Eagle Lake, MN, Renae Fischer, Mandan, ND, Robin Kathman and her husband, Keith of Lewisville, MN; step children, Katie McGuire and special friend, Joe Krueger of Westbrook, MN, Leah Skalicky and special friend, Tyler Wagner of St. James, MN and Darren Hilpipre, South Branch, MN; five grandchildren, Landon, Emma, Kyle, Joanna and Veda; father-in-law, Dean Hilpipre and his special friend, Ann Buchan of Outing, MN; brother, Marvin Fischer and special friend Vickie Tusa of Alpha, MN; two sisters, Gloria Becker and her husband William of Fairmont, Diane Hamsmith and special friend, Dan Wilcox of Swea City, IA; two brothers-in-law, Darvin Hilpipre of Fairmont, Dennis and Darlene Hilpipre of Blue Earth, MN; one sister-in-law, Debra and Edward Kitson of Marysville, WA; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Richard was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Janet Hilpipre; infant grandson, Donovan Richard; one brother Stanley Fischer and an infant brother.
