Florence Mae Burk, the daughter of George and Eldora (Way) Burk, was born on November 30, 1916 on a small ranch near Buena Vista, CO. In March of 1921 the family moved to and farmed near Lewisville, MN. Florence attended country school and graduated from Truman High School. On April 3, 1934 Florence was united in marriage to Henry "Hank? Heckman at St. John's Lutheran Parsonage, South Branch. They farmed in South Branch Township until they moved to Lewisville in 1948 and Truman in 1984. Florence was employed by many of the local and municipal businesses in Truman and Lewisville and owned and operated the Family Drive Inn for several years. She became a resident of the Lutheran Manor in 2001 and in 2007 she moved to Goldfinch Estates in Fairmont. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Lewisville. Florence died on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at the Fairmont Medical Center-Mayo Health Systems.
Florence is survived by two sons, Robert and his wife Shirley of San Gabriel, CA, Duane and his wife Rosalie of Truman; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; six great, great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Evelyn Burk of Winnebago; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in deth by her parents; husband, Henry who died on June 20, 1989; grandson, Steven Heckman; five brothers, George, Thomas, Guy, Perry and Charles Burk; three sisters, Sue Orr, Dorothy and Mary Burk.
