James Melvin Maloney was born Aug. 12, 1931, in Dunnell, Minn., the son of James and Rose (West) Maloney. James graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1948. He served in the U.S. Army from 1956 through 1957. He was united in marriage to Delilah (Pahl) Wiederhoeft on Jan. 5, 1969, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Fieldon. James worked as a filling station operator, mechanic, glass cutter in St. James, and he farmed. James loved working with wood, riding horses and boating. He also helped to train cattle to pull a cart. He loved spending time with his family. Maloney died Saturday, June 29, 2013, at Madelia Community Hospital.
James is survived by his wife, Delilah; two children, Diane (Alan) Brudelie and Dale (Cindy) Wiederhoeft; eight grandchildren, Ryan (Julie) Brudelie, Aaron (Molly) Brudelie, Brent (Susan) Wiederhoeft, Patrick Wiederhoeft, Shawn (Dawn) Wiederhoeft, Marc Wiederhoeft, Darin Wiederhoeft and Emma Wiederhoeft; three great-grandsons, Colby, Carter and Cooper; two step-granddaughters, Bailey and Kori; three sisters, Ruth (LeRoy) Greier, Betty (Tyler) Williams, and Deloris (Ronald) Wellman; brother, Daryle (Mary) Maloney; sister-in-law, Sharon Maloney; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marabelle Steuber; and brothers, Edwin, Ronald and Ralph.
