Sylvan Arthur Behrens

Sylvan Arthur Behrens was born on December 19, 1918 in Fraser Township, Martin County, MN to Julius and Dora (Schwieger) Behrens. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, Fraser Township. Sylvan attended parochial school at Zion Lutheran School. Sylvan entered the US Army on September 22, 1942 and served until November 5, 1945. Sylvan married Esther Wiebold in 1941 in Good Thunder, MN. She died in 1974. On February 15, 1975 Sylvan was united in marriage to Beatrice "Bea? Nielson-Ringeisen at Trinity Lutheran Church in Truman. He worked as a mechanic with his father, owning his own business in Northrop for 40 years. He moved to Truman in 1975 and worked for International Harvester until retirement. Sylvan was a member of Trinity Lutheran church in Truman and a former member of St. James Lutheran Church in Northrop. He was a Charter Member of Schwieger-Kahler Post 522 and the Martin County VFW Post 1222. Sylvan died on Friday, September 19, 2014 at Truman Senior Living. Sylvan is survived by his wife of 39 years, Bea Behrens of Truman; two sons, Robert (Marge), Troy, MO and Jerome (Kathy), St. Paul, MN; one daughter, Barbara Pulis (Dave), Good Thunder, MN; two step sons, Donald (Jane) Ringeisen, WI and Kenneth (Mary Sue) Ringeisen, Fairmont, MN; one step daughter, Ruth (Dean) Sandberg, Fairmont; 8 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren; 4 step great grandchildren; two sisters, Velma Wilson, Coeur d' Alene, ID and Ila Becker, Cambridge, MN; one brother, Omar (Janet) Behrens, Fairmont, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Esther; one brother; one sister; three brothers-in-law; and one sister-in-law. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church, Truman, MN.
