Dale Floris Kettner was born on February 10, 1951 in St. James, MN to Floris and Dorothy (Schwanz) Kettner. He was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Lewisville, MN and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Truman. Dale attended St. Paul’s Lutheran School in Truman and graduated from Truman High School. He then attended Jackson VoTech for carpentry. Dale started working for Truman Farmer’s Elevator on the construction crew. He served in the US Army from 1971-1973. Later he became the manager of the lumber department for TFE which was later WFS. On May 5, 1979 Dale was united in marriage to Vanessa Wilson at Community Baptist Church in Truman. Dale also raised hogs and farmed. In March of 2004, Dale and Vanessa opened BoeKett Building Supply with Terry and Cindy Boesch. In April of 2013, BoeKett opened their Fairmont location. Dale was a hard worker and took a lot of pride in his business. Dale was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where he served as Trustee. He was a lifetime member of the Oles-Reader-Bosshart American Legion Post 115 and was a member of the Truman Lions Club. Dale loved playing and watching all sports. He played for many years on the Jones Trucking Softball Team, was on a dart league and enjoyed bowling. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, campfires, going on vacation, playing games and being with family and friends. He was always the life of the party. A special thank you to Dale’s daughter-in-law, Tina Kettner for taking care of Dale during his illness. Dale passed away at his home in rural Truman on Sunday, January 25, 2015.
Left to cherish Dale’s memory are his wife of 35+ years, Vanessa Kettner, Truman; daughters, Gini (Tony) Brummond, Truman, Nicole Geistfeld, Albany, GA, Natalie (fiancé Houston Schubert) Kettner, Truman; son, Travis (Tina) Kettner, Truman; grandchildren, Zachary, Alexis, Bryce, Dayton; step grandchildren, Hunter, Kaley, Zachery, Bradyn; one brother, Terry (Lori) Kettner, Fergus Falls, MN; one brother-in-law Sam (Deb) Wilson, Westminster, CO; mother-in-law, Wanda Wilson, Truman; and several nieces and nephews. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Floris and Dorothy Kettner and his father-in-law, Darwin Wilson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are preferred to Truman Fire and Rescue, Pancreatic Cancer Association, Spirit of Truman Fund or UHD Hospice. Dale Floris Kettner,
