Doretta Mae Pegors (Warnemunde) was born on March 30, 1923 on a farm near Winside, Nebraska, to Henry and Dora (Hood) Warnemunde. She attended country schools and graduated from Pierce High School in Nebraska. Doretta married Allen Pegors on February 14, 1943 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Truman. They made their home on the family farm. She lived on the farm until Allen’s death in 2004 and then moved to Lakeville, MN, to be with family.
Doretta went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Fountains at Hosanna, Lakeville, MN at the age of 91 years. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at 10:30 am at Zaharia Family Funeral & Cremation Service of Truman. Interment will be held at Nashville Cemetery, rural Winnebago, MN. Visitation will be held for one hour before the services at the funeral home.
Doretta was a member of Nashville Baptist Church, Emmanuel Baptist Church and attended Fairmont Baptist Church after Emmanuel Baptist Church closed. She served in various women’s ministries as well as teaching Sunday School and always was a hospitable hostess. She cooked for many hired hands, missionaries and visitors as well as gardening, canning and reading.
Doretta is survived by two daughters, Judy Morris of Milton, Florida; Carol Van Ruler and husband, Gary of Lakeville, MN; son-in-law, Tim Smith of Eagle Grove, IA; one son, Wesley Pegors and wife, Delrose of Hendricks, SD; six grandchildren: eleven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by one sister, Opal Lemke of Edina, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Allen; two daughters, Evelyn; Lana Smith; one brother, Marvin; and son-in-law, Dennis Morris.
