Edward Dean Smith 87, of Truman passed away Thursday, July 23, 2015 at the Truman Senior Living.
A memorial visitation will be from 5:00pm-7:00pm Sunday, July 26, 2015 at the Zaharia Funeral Chapel, 102 East Ciro Street in Truman. Interment will be at a later date in the Westford Cemetery near Truman. Online condolences can be made at www.zahariafamilyfuneral.com
Edward was born May 3, 1928 in Lakeside Township, MN the son of Chester and Everill (Barklow). He graduated from Butterfield High School, and after gradation he entered the United Sates Army doing tours in World War II and The Korean Conflict. On August 13, 1949 in Truman he married Delores Loraine VanBrunt.
He worked for Bob Johnson Implement in Winnebago, Truman Farmers Elevator in the John Deere Division, and W. Hodgman & Sons, Inc. in Fairmont working there until he retired in his early 70’s.
He enjoyed camping, walking his little dog Sunny, traveling, and wintering in Florida for over 10 years.
He is survived by his wife, Delores of Truman, sons, Mark (Donna) Smith of Mankato, Vance (Rene) Smith of Dunedin, FL, sister, Marion Curry of St. James, grandchildren, Chris (Kelly Nilson) Smith, Michael Smith, great-grandchildren, Joshua Smith, Emma Nilson, Abby Nilson, and Brayden Smith.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Enid Wiederhoeft, and BettyJane Ehlert.
