Hermina I. Leimer

Funeral services for Hermina I. Leimer, 98, Truman, MN, formerly of Lewisville, MN will be held on Monday, December 28, 2015 at 11:00 am at Zion Lutheran Church, Lewisville with Rev. Brian Thorson officiating. Interment will take place in the church cemetery. Hermina died on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Truman Senior Living. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the services in the church. Arrangements are being handled by Zaharia Family Funeral & Cremation Service of Truman. Hermina Irene Leimer was born Jauary 21, 1917, in Pender, Nebraska to Herman and Della (Suhr) Essmann. Hermina was baptized on April 22, 1917, and was later confirmed March 20th, 1932, both at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. She received her education in Pender, Nebraska. Hermina was united in marriage to Gerhardt Leimer on February 1, 1935 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Pender, Nebraska. To their union eleven children were born. They farmed in Pender area for several years until moving to Minnesota in 1941 where they continued farming. Hermina and Gerhardt shared 50 years of marriage until Gerhardt passed away on November 17, 1985. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where she was past president of the Altar Guild. She cared for the flowers and plants for many years. She enjoyed tending her own flowers and was named Lewisville Gardener of the Year in 2007. She loved dancing and enjoyed many years wintering in Texas. Hermina was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She cherished the time spent with her children and grandchildren and many friends. She enjoyed being in Bible Study, card clubs, study club and was a member of the Red Hat Society. She was a member of American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Through the years Hermina worked at the supper club, drugstore, and the Truman and Lewisville grocery stores. She continued to live in her own home until she needed daily assistance. She became a resident of Truman Senior Living January 2010. Children who will cherish her memory are Richard Leimer, Roseville, CA, Jeannette Meyer, Hutchinson, MN, Geraldine Grams (Sydney), Hutchinson, MN, Gaile Leimer (Madonna), Paynesville, MN, Judy Anderson, Lake City, MN, Carleen Halverson (Ken), Sturgeon Lake, MN, Terry Leimer, Lewisville, MN, Douglas Leimer (Dottie), Rochester, MN, daughters-in-law, Betty Leimer, Auburn, CA, Harumi Leimer, Savannah, GA, 27 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, 5 great great-grandchildren, one brother, Herman Essmann, Jr., and wife Arlene of Pender, NE, one sister, Mae Kidwell of Bancroft, NE, and many nieces, nephews and relatives and friends. Hermina was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Della Essmann, husband Gerhardt Leimer, sons, Dennie Leimer, Herman Leimer, Ricky Leimer, grandchildren TeriAnn Gunter, Janella Grams, Natalie Halverson, Kyle Palmer, daughter-in-law Marge Leimer, son-in-law Jack Meyer, sisters Pauline Benson, Dorothy Otteman, Adell Lueders, brothers-in-law, Johnny Zwygart, Albert Benson, Harold Lueders and Harold Otteman.
