Amelia Mae Gronewold

March 9, 1927 — November 11, 2021

         Amelia Mae Gronewold, age 94, of Lewisville, passed away on Thursday, November 11, 2021 at the Buffalo Lake Health Care Center, Buffalo Lake, MN. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 21, 2021 from 4-6 PM at Zaharia Family Funeral Home in Truman, where a service will be held at 6 PM with Rev. John Bennett officiating. Burial will be held the following day at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis at 11:30 AM. PLEASE MEET IN ASSEMBLY LANE #4.         Amelia Mae Eads, was born March 9, 1927 in McKendree, West Virginia to Charles Nelson and Frances Amelia (Bonar) Eads. She attended Beckley West Virginia High School where her high school graduation picture had the caption “As sweet as the day is long”. On September 11, 1949 Amelia was united in marriage to Philip Gronewold in Alvon, West Virginia. She moved to Minnesota where she helped Phil farm their entire life in the Lewisville area until retiring in 1988. Amelia was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 561 where she also served as President. She belonged to the Ladies Aid, was a leader with the 4-H as well as the Blue Birds. In later years she enjoyed traveling to England, Germany, and many states including Alaska to visit family. Amelia and Phil spent many years wintering in San Juan, Texas.

       Amelia is survived by her two daughters, Jeanne (Bevan) Burroughs of Pflugerville, TX and Wendy Woller (Brad) of Stewart, MN; two sons, Kerry (Linda) Gronewold of Fairbanks, AK and Larry (Peggy) Gronewold of Altavista, VA; one daughter-in-law, Anna Gronewold of Lake Crystal, MN; 18 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

       She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Master Sergeant Philip Gronewold; one son, Chet; five grandchildren and her twin sister, Ada Williams.
