Barbara Lee Martinson, a kind-hearted and selfless soul, passed away on February 10, 2024, in Mankato, MN, at the age of 70. Born on April 29, 1953 in Fairmont, she was a daughter of the late W. Gene and E. Marie (Swanson) Bosshart

 

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont, with a visitation beginning at 10:00AM. Interment will be held in Ridge Lawn Memorial Park in Truman.


A graduate of Truman High School, Barbara's warm and compassionate nature led her to a variety of jobs throughout her life. Some of those jobs were waitressing, retail and as a secretary. Her caring nature led her to a career as a Nursing Assistant at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Truman. She dedicated her life to providing care and comfort to those in need, leaving a lasting impact on the lives she touched. Her commitment to making a difference in the world was truly commendable. She was a faithful member of St. Katherine’s Catholic Church in Truman until it closed and then she joined St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont, finding comfort and strength in her faith.

Barbara had many passions and hobbies that brought joy to her life. A green thumb, Barbara had a unique talent for gardening, cultivating vibrant blooms and nurturing nature with her caring touch. She found solace in nature and adored camping and fishing trips, where she could immerse herself in the beauty of the outdoors. Barbara also put her heart into crafting and creating many memorable pieces for her family. 
 
She found great pleasure in cooking and baking, preparing delicious meals and treats for her family and friends. She was renowned for her famous potato salad and potato soup, recipes that will forever be cherished by her loved ones. Her warm and inviting kitchen was always filled with love and laughter.
 
Barbara had a heart of gold and went out of her way to make others feel special. She delighted in shopping for gifts and surprising loved ones with thoughtful gestures. Her generosity and thoughtfulness were unmatched, and she will forever be remembered for her kind and giving nature.
 
 

Left to cherish Barbara’s memory are her children, Corrie (Jenny) Martinson, Shandon (Tom) O’Brien, and Michael Martinson, and their father, Randi; grandchildren, Alexis (Max) Becker, Alyssa Martinson, Damian Martinson, Dawson O’Brien, Bailey and Morgan Martinson and their mother, Sarah; great-grandchildren, Aiden Becker, Emmett Larson, and Tatum Larson; siblings, Kathy Bosshart, RoseMary Kasten, Kathy (Tom) Jorgensen, George (Deb) Bosshart, Charles “Chuck” (Sun) Bosshart, and Alan Bosshart; Many nieces, nephews and cousins; and her beloved pets, Snickers and BoBo.

 

In addition to her parents, Gene and Marie, Barbara was preceded in death by an infant grandson, Bryan Charlet; a brother, Carl Bosshart; a brother-in-law, Duane Kasten; an infant niece, Patricia Kasten; a great-nephew, Jacob Bosshart; several aunts, uncles and friends; pets, Miki, Snoopy, and Brandi.
