Daniel Edward Tonn was born in Winnebago, MN to Martin and Lorraine (Urban) on February 9, 1964. He was baptized and confirmed at St John’s Lutheran Church - Willow Creek. He attended parochial school at St. John’s Lutheran School-Willow Creek and attended Amboy-Good Thunder High School. He received his Associate of Arts degree from Bethany Lutheran College and his Bachelor of Science degree from Minnesota State University-Mankato in Accounting and Finance. He traveled extensively while working for the salt division of Cargill. He received his MBA from Syracuse University while living in Ithaca, NY. Currently, Dan is employed by H&R Block as an instructor and tax analyst. Dan was blessed with a beautiful tenor voice, sang in both his church and college choirs, and was a member of the Minneapolis Commodores for many years. Dan was a great storyteller and loved crossword puzzles. He was kind, social, and likable, making friends wherever he went.
Dan died unexpectedly at home on Monday, November 14, 2022 at the age of fifty-eight years.
Dan is survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret and Ralph Slaker of Maple Lake, MN and Carolyn and Steve Kopacek of Maple Grove, MN, brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Barbara Tonn of Amboy, MN, nieces and nephews, Sara (Jonathan) Brandon, Megan Slaker (Micheal) Bennett, Elizabeth (Paul) Rassier, Rebecca (Ryan) Koch, Nathan Kopacek, Kevin (Samantha) Tonn, Jared (Angela) Tonn, and 5 grandnieces and nephews, Cadence, Jameson, Anders and Vera Brandon and Amelia Tonn.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Lorraine Tonn, and a nephew.
Memorial services will be held at 10am on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Willow Creek with Rev. John Bennett officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church. Burial will take place at North Willow Creek Cemetery immediately following the service. After the burial, all are welcome to a Celebration of Life gathering, held at the Snowbirds Event Center in Amboy.
Memorials are preferred to Bethany Lutheran College.
