Dwain was born on June 12th, 1935 to Walter and Grace (Karau) Buelow in Madelia MN. Dwain was the oldest of four boys in his family. Dwain attended District 140 -Section 29 in Ceresco and then District 29-Section 26 in Pleasant Mound Township, both in Blue Earth County. Dwain would often ride his Shetland pony, Peggy, to school. His third and fourth schools were divided between District 8-Section 26 in Antrim Township and St. John’s Antrim parochial school, and the fifth school was District 3-Section 12 in Antrim Township all were in Watonwan County. His final school he attended was a District school in Section 20 in Lincoln Township in Blue Earth County northeast of Madelia until 1950. He was confirmed in 1950 at Salem Lutheran Church in Madelia.

Dwain’s work life began early, when he was only 12 years old he was given the job of loading pea vines for the Fairmont Canning Co. He used the family’s Fordson the first year and then the Ford 8N tractor furnished by the canning company. He worked here until 1960. Dwain has lived and worked on farms for his entire life. The first farms had no electricity until 1947. His family moved to many farms throughout his childhood. When Dwain was only 6 years old, he was in the wagon pulled by the horses, Barney and Florie, with his parents picking corn by hand in the field. Something spooked the horses and started running. Walter was able to jump on the wagon and get them to turn around and they went back to picking with Dwain still in the wagon.

Dwain and his brothers, Eugene and Jerold, all farmed and ran a dairy farm before retiring in 2023. He was a wonderful uncle to his nieces and great nieces and nephew and enjoy each time they could visit with them and their growing families. Dwain was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church~Willow Creek for many years and was always a staple in the congregation. A quiet man, but so God fearing, he knew that church was the place to replenish his soul each week.

Dwain leaves behind are his brothers Willard (Linda) and Jerold Buelow, his nieces Mary (Scott) Brockberg, Kristi Buelow, and Sandy (Daniel) Ramlo, along with his great nieces Jasmine, Alexis Brockberg, and Phoenix Ramlo and great nephew Logan Ramlo.

He was preceded in death by his parents Water and Grace Buelow and Eugene Buelow.
