Janice Loretta Buhmann

Janice "Jan" Buhmann passed away at her home on Saturday October 19, 2019. She was 81.  Visitation will be Thursday evening, October 24^th from 5-7 PM at Zaharia Family Funeral Home in Truman. A Funeral Service will be Friday at 10 am at Trinity Lutheran Church in Truman with Reverend Krista Strum officiating.  Additional visitation one hour prior.  Interment will follow in East Chain Lutheran Cemetery. Janice Loretta Stromberg was born May 22, 1938 in East Chain Minnesota to Oscar Nathaniel and Alma Theressa (Soma) Stromberg. She attended East Chain School where she was involved in many activities. She married Darrell Charles Buhmann on July 27^th, 1956 in the East Chain Lutheran Church where she was also baptized and confirmed. After their marriage they moved to Blue Earth for a time, then in 1959 they moved to the Chicago area. Jan worked for several years for Walgreens, then in the medical records department at Holy Cross hospital. She retired January 31, 2000. One year later Darrell retired as well.

Janice and Darrell enjoyed the boating life on Lake Michigan, where they entertained family and friends for nearly 30 years. They decorated for every holiday, and some would say it was over the top. Spending time with their family throughout the seasons was their passion. Jan was an avid quilter, enjoyed playing cards and going for coffee.

In 2009, they moved to Truman, they became members of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was in the Martha Circle. Darrell and Jan continued their retirement travels on cruises with friends and other locations throughout the United States.

Survived by, her husband of 63 years, Darrell Buhmann of Truman; Children, David Buhmann of Hammond, IN, Robin (Charlie) Miller of Truman, Ranette (Jim) Travnik  of New Lenox, IL, Douglas (Chila) Buhmann, Key Largo, FL, Rhonda Buhmann of Cedar Lake, IN and Ramona Burns of Cedar Lake, IN; 13 Grandchildren, Jennifer (Justin) Kmitch

Eric Engel, Sherri (Michael) Kirk, Bridgette Loera, Ranae (Jason) Smith, Tonya Reising, James Travnik, Matthew Travnik, Allison (Mark) Hammond, James Burns, Joseph Burns, Kyle Burns, Douglas Buhmann Jr.; 18 Great-Grandchildren, Griffin Kmitch, Harper Kmitch,  Leo Kmitch, Gunther Kirk, Anderson Kirk, Casandra Cruz, Christian Cruz, Oscar Loera, Marco Loera, Lydia Loera, Daniel Cruz Jr., Ana Cruz, Alexia Cruz, Omar Cruz, Adelynn Reising, Rowan Hammond, Eric Burns and Paige Burns; Brother, Norwood (Janice) Stromberg; and sister, Judy (Terry) Leiding all of Fairmont, Sister-in-Law, Bev (Tom) Sime of Fairmont; Brothers-in-Law, Elmer Buhmann of Fairmont, Elvin Buhmann of Champlin, Arlen (Marilyn) Buhmann of Fairmont, Ken (Pat) Buhmann and Jerry (Linda) Buhmann both of East Chain; also many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

Janice was preceeded in death by her parents, Oscar and Alma Stromberg; father and mother-in-law, Alfred and Edith Buhmann; brother, Norman Stromberg; daughter, Roxane Engel; sons-in-law, Wayne Engel and Frank Smith; sister-in-Law, Judy Buhmann.
