Kenneth LeRoy Coleman was born July 31, 1927, to Dan and Della (Larson) Coleman on a farm in St. James. He was one of seven children. In 1945 he enlisted in the United States Army where he proudly served his country for 2 years. Upon returning home from the service, he met and married the love of his life Milly on October 23, 1948, at St. John’s Lutheran Church-South Branch. Together they would raise four fabulous daughters on their farm northwest of Truman.
When Kenny wasn’t farming, he enjoyed doing craft work, woodworking and gardening. He and Milly enjoyed card club and doing the occasional traveling but what was most important to him was family time. They would travel to the state fair often and go on family picnics, but the focus was always spending time with those he loved the most. When his grandchildren came along, he would always take time to play with them, take them on golf cart rides and be sure to tease them. They all gravitated to Grandpa. His caring, friendly and most of all kind ways will be missed by all.
Those left to cherish such wonderful memories are his daughters; Linda (Richard) Salden of Chaska, MN, Julie (Jerome) Atkinson of Eufaula, OK, Marlys (Dennis) Melchert of Fairmont, MN and Laurie (Calvin) Wilson of Carver, MN. His grandchildren: Justin (Janet) Atkinson, Nathan (Nicole) Atkinson, Angie (Duane) Symanietz, Samantha (Tommy) Teach, Andy Melchert and Kallie Wilson, great-grandchildren: Ryan Atkinson, Taylor Symanietz, Elizabeth Atkinson and Colton Atkinson as well as his sister-in-law Marlene Coleman and many other extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, his parents, two sisters and four brothers.
