Services will be 10:30am Monday April 28th at St. John’s Lutheran Church ~Willow Creek~, rural Vernon Center, Minnesota. A visitation will be Sunday April 27th from 3-6pm at St. John’s Lutheran Church ~ Willow Creek and from 9-10:30am the day of the service. Burial will be in the North Willow Creek Cemetery.
Myron was born to Willard and Lois (Schramm) Kietzer on July 10, 1954 in Mankato MN. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s church and went to school at St. John’s Lutheran School in Willow Creek and continued attending church there until his death. He graduated from Southern School of Agriculture, Waseca in 1972. Myron married Catherine Griffith in February of 1978 and they began their 47 years of life together. He farmed with his father and brother Bruce. They family farmed crops and raised hogs until Willard and Bruce passed away. At that time, he took over all the farming duties. He and Catherine took care of his mother Lois after his father’s death. He retired from farming in 2021, struggling with health concerns. Myron and Cathy were blessed with 4 children 11 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter.
Myron was an active member of St. John’s Church Willow Creek. He was one of those quiet but powerful, stubborn, and loving Germans. His German heritage and faith ran deep and he tried to live his faith every day. He played softball in his younger years with the Willow Creek Brewers, and served on many different boards at church over the years. He and Cathy enjoyed many years of riding motorcycles with the Griffith family and later taking grandchildren for rides. He always added to his family’s income by working in Amboy at Urban Oil for many years, pumping gas and a mechanic at Jim’s Repair, and also helped clean the church. He loved visiting with his “good buddies” up at Urban’s. Myron and Cathy sat for many hours watching their children play high school baseball, basketball, football, and watching class plays and most recently softball. He was always one that helped his kids with their homework, showed them how to do simple tasks like changing oil in their car, cleaning the pig barn or chopping stalks. He was a true farmer and could fix almost anything, he loved the change of seasons and a sense of accomplishment when the crop was in the bins and the ground was black.
Myron’s favorite was spending time with his grandchildren; whether it was showing them how to shoot the new gun he’d gotten or how to chop wood correctly! He loved watching them grow and had fun watching all their school activities. They loved helping him with whatever jobs he asked them to do. He was always excited to go camping and just do nothing but relax and watch tv, watch the grandkids, have a brew with his kids or sit by an expertly made campfire. Myron enjoyed our family Sunday dinners this past year knowing there would a flurry of excitement in the house with all the family there. He fought the good fight but God needed him more, so we needed to let him go. This is not an end for him but a beginning and we will soon be together again. It’s just hard to say goodbye.
Myron will be greatly missed by his wife Catherine, daughters Holly Wallace of St. James, Abbie Kietzer (Jon Hawkes) of Lakeville, sons Jesse Kietzer (Charity Hunt) of Vernon Center and Jordan (Kaylee) Kietzer of Spencer IA. Eleven special grandchildren, Renae (Dylan) Paulson, William Wallace (Alexia King), Derrek and Jacob Wallace, Charis and Tristan Kietzer, Mason, Brooks, Maverick, Hayes and Hudson Kietzer, 1 sweet great granddaughter Layla Paulson and many dear nieces, nephews and close friends and his faithful pooch Max.
He is proceeded in death by his parents Willard and Lois, parents-in-law Loren and Genevieve Griffith, and brother Bruce Kietzer, many aunts and uncles.
We would like to thank UHD hospice for their care and to our children for all their help keeping Myron at home.
