Rodney Malo

Funeral service for Rodney G. Malo, age 90, Fairmont, MN will be on Monday, September 30, 2024 at 1:30 PM at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Fairmont. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday, September 30, 2024. The interment will be at Lakeside Cemetery, Fairmont, MN with full military honors. Rodney passed away on September 13, 2024 at Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center, Fairmont, MN.

 Rodney Gene Malo was born on April 27, 1934 in Fairmont, MN, the son of Ervin and Malinda (Wolter) Malo. He graduated from Fairmont High School in 1952. Rodney served in the United States Army from February 1957 to February 1959. Following his time in the service, he moved to California where he worked as a groundskeeper and handy man. During that time, he also owned and operated a tavern in Tustin, CA. For 15 years leading up to his retirement, he worked for a pet supply company in Westminster, CA. Upon retirement, he returned to Fairmont where he enjoyed gardening, spending time on the family farm and watching sports. He was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, a member of Senior Friends, 50 plus group and enjoyed working at the Martin County Fair Food Stand.

 Rodney is survived by his nephew, Todd Malo (Kari); nephew-in-law, Gregory Murphy (Dixie); great-nieces, Alissa Henry (Awbre), Meghan Murphy, Jessica Stensland; great-nephew, Markus Murphy (Keri); sister-in-law, Georgia Malo; three great-great nieces and two great-great nephews.

 Rodney was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Malinda Malo; brothers, Richard Malo and Mervin Malo; nieces, Debra Murphy, Jacqueline Thiesse and Cinda Susan Malo; sister-in-laws, Bryce Malo and Barbara Malo and great-nephew, Tyler Stensland.

 Memorials are preferred to Martin Lutheran High School.
