Steven Carl Sackett

Steven Sackett, age 69, of Fairmont passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2020 at his home.

A Private Family memorial service will be held Thursday at 10:30 am on June 25, 2020 at Zaharia Family Funeral Home.

 In this time of the COVID-19 pandemic, attendance restrictions will be in place - asking that you maintain social distancing guidelines and masks are required per CDC protocol.

Steven Carl Sackett was born November 22, 1950 in Fairmont to Guy Elmer and Lois Jean (Schmid) Sackett. He attended Truman Public School and worked on the farm until he moved to Fairmont in 1991 to Rem-Heartland group home in Fairmont. He worked at MRCI for 20 years before retiring in 2015 at the age of 65.

Steven enjoyed fishing, watching baseball, the Twins, Vikings, his weekly bowling trips, listening to classic country western music, and attending many concerts. He also loved food, especially chicken! Steven loved dogs, not so much love for cats though! He also helped his family raise horses, he loved babies and everyone’s kids.

His friends Tom, Uriah, Mark and the Staff at Rem Heartland were like family to him.

Steven is survived by his siblings, Tom (Julie) Sackett of Winnebago, Mary (Roger) Studer of Sherburn and James Sackett of Winnebago; several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

He is preceded by his parents, grandparents and sister-in-law Daphne Sackett.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Martin County Humane Society.
