Violet “Vi” Benoy of Heartland Senior Living, Truman died on Thursday, June 18, 2020 at Heartland Senior Living in Truman. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at 11 AM at the Truman Church of Christ with Rev. Merrill Davis officiating. Inurnment will follow at Ridgelawn Memorial Park in Truman. Violet was born in Erskine, MN on April 18, 1926 to B.M and Hazel (Peterson) Bensen. She attended Clementson School and then graduated from Erskine High School in 1943. She received her teachers training certification and taught at Woodside Country school for 2 years.
Vi was united in marriage to Walter H. Benoy on September 30, 1946 and together they raised 2 sons, Bruce and Sheldon. Over the years they lived in Winnebago, Mankato, and Truman. They were active members at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Winnebago, MN. Sadly, Walt passed away on September 30, 2009 on their 63rd wedding, anniversary.
Violet is survived by her son, Sheldon (Shelley) Benoy of Truman; daughter-in-law Wanda Benoy of Dixon, Illinois; six grandchildren, Eric, Cassandra, Stacia, Derek (Janee Roskop), Monica and Ashley (Jordan); great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Madi, Ali, Carolena, Adara, Anton, Callia, Tayanna, Lucian, Tyson (Bella) and Tegan; great-great grandchild, Abel; a sister, Delores Birkelo of Colorado Springs, CO; many nieces and nephews. In addition to Walt, her beloved husband, Violet was preceded in death by her parents; son, Bruce Benoy; 4 brothers and 2 sisters. Blessed be the Memory of Violet I. Benoy!
