Marianne Petersen, age 80, of Truman, passed away on Friday, April 23, 2021 at her home after a 19-year long and courageous battle against cancer.
Visitation will be on Wednesday April 28, 2021 from 10-11 AM with a service at 11 AM held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Truman, with Rev. Timothy A. Chase officiating. Marianne Evelyn Hase was born on January 31, 1941, in Winnebago, MN, the daughter of Fred and Elsie (Kleen) Hase. She was one of 4 children and graduated from Huntley High School. On April 10, 1960, she married John Petersen at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fairmont. Marianne worked some time at Interstate Power, took time off to raise her two daughters and then worked at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Truman before retiring.
Marianne had a strong faith in her Lord, serving in many capacities at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She loved reading, socializing with her friends, traveling and being around family. She was a role model for everyone around her. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, sense of humor, big heart and unconditional love.
Marianne is survived by her best friend and husband of 61 years, John H. Petersen, of Truman; daughters, Jody (Patrick “PJ”) Kocer-Flynn, of Stone Lake, WI and Holly Hill of Kenosha, WI; three grandchildren, Benjamin (Molly) Kocer of Columbia Heights, MN, Isaiah Hill of Kailua, HI and Jordan Hill of W. Richland, WA; brother, George (Vicky) Hase of Elgin, IL; sister, Karen (Bill) Bieber of Maple Grove, MN; sisters-in-law, Charlotte Hase of Sarasota, FL and Diane (Leigh) Nelson of Welch, MN; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Elsie Hase; in-laws, Herman and Daisy Petersen; brother, Kenneth Hase and niece, Kathryn Peterson.
